Aidan's Dance

Aidan's third grade is almost to an end. She is growing up too fast. The third grade represented the 50's for the end of year dance show. They all looked so cute!

Here is Aidan dancing with her 3rd grade class. Her shoes gave her blisters, but she was still smiling.

Kali's Dance

Kali has loved fifth grade. She loved her teacher (so did we) and her class. For the school dance show the fifth grade represented the 70's. Thank goodness I had a tye-dye shirt and a long blonde wig.

Here is Kali doing her dance. She is in the far right corner of the field.

Kali's Talent

For Kali's 5th grade talent show she decided she would play and sing "Love Song" by Sarah Bareilles. She did an amazing job and we were very proud of her. She sang the entire song but I had to cut out quite a bit so we could post it on our blog. She is still beaming over the compliments she has gotten.

1st Triathlon

I am now officially hooked on triathlons. My first one was great...but very tiring. I love to push my body to do something hard, and then feel the pain for the next two days. Sounds a little demented, but it is true. I keep thinking of things I could have done to make my time a little faster. One is to work on my running (I am not a strong runner), another is to get some tri clothes (expensive!), and last I need to learn to ride my bike w/o the gloves and pads so I can transition faster. I hope I do one or two of these every year until I am about 65! :)

We did a 400 Meter swim in this pool.

The transition and bike area. The bikes are squished in there pretty tight.

Starting to line up for the run. Typically you swim first but this was a backwards tri.

Running....did I mention my running is terrible? I dare say it is my worst of the three sports.

My thoughts right after the tri. After resting for a couple of hours I started looking online for another one I could sign up for in the fall.

Soccer Star

Bryan began playing soccer back when he was six, and has played his whole life, even in Germany for a few years as a teen. The one thing he has always wanted was a girl (or boy, for that matter) who would be good at soccer. Kali never seemed to have the interest, Aidan was hit by a ball in the face within a few seconds of entering her first game and was never the same after that...and then it was Gentry's turn. Gentry has always been the rambunctious type...always on the go, and fairly spunky around other kids. We thought these attributes would be beneficial in soccer, but come to find out, she is more interested in the social aspects of the sport. At times, we have watched her holding hands with other girls and running around the circle at the middle of the field, while at other times, we've just watched her ignoring where the ball was as she looked for her coach to give him a high five...for no particular reason. Well, her first season is now over, but here are pictures of that last game. There is a moment in this game that will remain with Bryan forever. Toward the end of the game a boy from the opposing team fell down and Gentry was right there in the crowd of kids when it happened. The ball must have left the area because the swarm also left...except for Gentry and this kid on the ground. She leaned over and asked him if he was okay. He said something back to her and then she held out her hand and helped this boy up onto his feet. The game continued on some other part of the field, but most of the crowd was watching this little girl having just helped her opponent up off the grass. To top off this tremendous display of sportsmanship, they both gave each other a big hug (accompanied by a few "ahhh"s from the spectators), then trotted back to the swarm of other, less-sportsmanlike, players. I guess, after all is said and done, we could have an aggressive, intense soccer player...but we'll take Gentry and her loving, selfless ways...and Bryan will be even prouder of his little girl. She deserves her long-awaited first trophy for this simple act, alone. That deserves a big high-five, Gigi!

Kali makes a mean meal!

When Kali was off track she watched the show "Racheal Ray". One day she decided she wanted to make one of the recipes, so we went to the store and purchased all of the ingredients. It was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. She made spaghetti with bacon and leeks. I think I may have her make dinner every night.

Cabin Trip

Over memorial day weekend we decided to go to the cabin. The girls had a blast. We saw a few animals and went on a lot of 4 wheeler rides. We love the cabin...just not the bugs. Oh, and we can't forget to mention the dance Aunt Becca did when the washer started flooding the hallway.

She just might be taller than me in a few years. Scary!

Gentry and her best friend and cousin Lily.

Rough riding with dad.

Brielle loved riding with her dad.

Gentry's helmet was pretty large...she could only see if she moved her head to the right angle.
